Spring Thaw

On April 23rd, we held our annual “Spring Thaw Dinner and loonie auction. Thanks to Barb T. and all of the volunteers who helped make the evening a wonderful night for all who attended! Here are a few photos.  Here are some words from Barb.

Two years and a pandemic later ——
We resumed our fantastic fun evening!! An enthusiastic crowd gathered in the Parish hall to enjoy an
evening of delicious food, humour and the antics of “Loonie auction craziness” It was wonderful to be together again –
masks and all!!
My thanks to all – So many willing individuals are needed to make any event a success!
Let me begin by sending kudos to –

  • All the donors of the many items in the Silent and Loonie auctions. You have been very generous. You make
    our evening!
  • To Linda Todd, Gina Coleman and Michal Wallen – our unsung heroes for developing, overseeing and setting up
the auctions – a wonderful team.
  • To our Master of Ceremony, Don Brohm and our auctioneer, Michael Green. Together they provide much comedy
with their energetic and humerous styles . They are a dynamic duo !
  • To Heather Banham,, our wine steward and to Michal Wallen, our gracious hostess at the door. Champion greeters!
  • The group of energetic men and women (Eileen Davies, Shirley Williams, Lorna Green, Carol Augustine and Shirley Hanes who set tables, stuffed glasses and to Paul Davies who moved tables and chairs
  • To Jo Sales and Michal Wallen for doing ALL the tablecloths
  • To the volunteers who stayed to assist with clean up and stored away the tables and chairs
  • Of course, a success results by the huge support of all who attended and joined in the fun!

The evening was a financial success raising well over $3200.00
A Huge Thanks to all. My apologies to anyone I may have omitted unintentionally.

Market Day, Thank you

Taking a moment and reflect on all the activities involved to make Market Day a success can be overwhelming at times.  What stood out to me over Market Day preparations was watching once again parish members’ ever-increasing dedication and enthusiasm.

Thank you to everyone that supported the Market Day event, from those who coordinated an area, set up/clean up teams, those on hand during the sale and all the shoppers.

JoAnne Burridge

From the church community – THANK YOU JoAnne Burridge for coordinating this fundraising event.

Just a thought for a week

Just supposing we started
This very day
To live our lives in a
Different way;
Just supposing we vowed
And constantly tried
To help those in troubled –
On life’s wayside;
If we showed by our doings
A hint of His Love
Wouldn’t earth be a bit more
Like Heaven Above.

On Monday
Look for a smile today and return it
With one of your own.
Give someone new Faith and Hope
It’s such a beautiful loan!

On Tuesday
Gather a thought that’s kind – one
That’s sincere and deep.
But be sure to pass it along, for such
Are to precious to keep!

On Wednesday
Forget yesterday’s old sorrows,
mistakes, sadness and pain.
Lift your heart with hope and a song
As flowers to sun and rain!

On Thursday
Offer a word of comfort and prayer to
Help someone in need
A little thoughtful gift, some flowers or
A smile makes us all rich indeed!

On Friday
You shall not pass this way again
So do and good you can do
Don’t put it off till tomorrow, or the
Chance may be lost for you!

On Saturday
Today will so be a memory so don’t
Let is come to an end
Without a smile, without a song or jus
A word with a friend!

On Sunday
Don’t let worry and care depress you
Or brush the days joy away
But rise and give thanks to God above
For His love and another “Blest Day”.

Just a thought to carry you through the week with my prayer that it may hold joy and happiness for you
