STRAWBERRY SUPPER 2010
Our annual Strawberry Supper is one of the events that marks St. Paul’s in our community. This year’s strawberry/salad supper on June 22 hosted 450 people despite the threat of rain.
The strawberries were acquired locally this year at (Sweet Scent Farm on Thunder Bridge Road). Sourcing them locally and having them picked removes an element of risk. Our parishioners are getting older and it removes the risk of bad weather the afternoon before when there is little or no recovery time. They turned out to be delicious and any appropriate leftovers were taken to ‘A Place Called Home’. Paul Carpentier turned leftovers into Strawberry Freezer Jam for sale.
This event, like the fair, runs on volunteers. Thanks to every one of the 70+ volunteers who helped to make the supper run so smoothly – and also to the two dozen people who helped to prepare the food and dining rooms.
The food was excellent and the service great – everyone who attended voiced nothing but praise for your effort and work.
My special thanks to the team leaders: Barbara Brown and Gina Coleman, Betty Drummond and Ann Armstrong, Betty and Don Tyndall, Arlene Gray and Paul Carpentier.
Lastly, I want to thank all the people copied on this report and all others who gave very unselfishly of their time and talents to make this year’s version of the Strawberry Supper an overall success. There is no question that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to do without you help.
