Don Brohm, The People's Warden

Don was born and raised in the Norland area and is the son of Charles and Margaret Brohm. He has 5 brothers and 1 sister. His father was Baptist; his mother was Anglican and the family attended church at the Pioneer Baptist Church in Norland.

Don was educated at SS#6 Dongola Public School, Fenelon Falls District High School and then the International Correspondence School, Montreal. He came to Lindsay in 1967 to work at Ed Duggan Dodge.

He later moved to Union Carbide/Viscase Canada and retired 33 years later. While Don worked at Union Carbide, he met a young lady by the name of Margaret Whitney. Canon David Lemon married them Aug. 7, 1971. They have two children, Shelley Lynn and Laine Donald and they also have two grandsons, Matthew Jordon and Arron William.

Don was baptized at St. Paul’s in 1980 by Rev. Bob Hartley and confirmed by Bishop Read the same year. During the years that Don and family attended St. Paul’s, he has done many things. He has been a Lay Minister under the Reverend Richard Miller’s ministry, Chairman of Parish Council, member of Area Council, Deanery Council, Member of Synod, and he is now the Christian Education Coordinator. Don is presently the People’s Warden.

Don is a volunteer at Ross Memorial Hospital and enjoys ice skating, golf and hockey. His favourite quiet time is spent “studying the bible prophecy” and “watching the world unfold according to God’s plan and purpose”. His favourite quotes are, “Show up and follow God’s script” and “Be more concerned about things in Heaven and less about worldly things”
